The Road That Transformed Me to Help You

I’m Johnny Burchett.  And I never imagined this would be my life.

One day, I was a husband, a dad, and a Pop—living a normal life, doing what men do. Working, providing, trying to hold it all together. I had my routines. I had my friendships. I had the freedom to enjoy simple things—things often taken for granted—a conversation over coffee, a ballgame on the weekend, a workout at the gym, a quiet walk with my dog to clear my head.

Vera and I built a life full of love, laughter, and plans for the future…

Vera and I had plans—plans to travel the world, spoil our grandkids, and enjoy the kind of life we had worked so hard to build.

Before Alzheimer’s, Vera and I had big plans—to see the world and soak up every moment together…

But when caregiving enters your life, it doesn’t knock politely…

After Vera’s diagnosis, life shifted in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
I went from building a future to battling daily just to keep my head above water. The weight of caregiving—emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually—was unlike anything I had ever known…I’ve run a marathon—but caregiving? This is a journey with no map, no finish line in sight, no medals… and no cheering crowd. It brought me to my knees, demanded a strength I didn’t know I had, and a faith I didn’t know I needed.

This section isn’t about titles or accomplishments. It’s about truth. It’s about the fire I’ve walked through—and how I came out stronger, not just for myself, but for Vera and for those I’m called to help.

If you’ve made it this far, you’re not just reading—you’re searching. For clarity. For hope. For someone who gets it.

What follows are the five chapters of my story and mission. Each one is rooted in lived experience—built for the road you’re walking right now.

Let’s start at the beginning
