The Burden of Burnout - How It Can Slowly Break You

Definition

Caregiver burnout isn’t a bad day. It’s the slow, invisible unraveling of your mind, body, and spirit. You start by brushing things off fatigue, short temper, no appetite but it doesn’t stop. Eventually, you don’t recognize yourself anymore. You’re empty, bitter, ashamed, and alone… and still pushing through.

Burnout is not a personal failure. It’s a survival response to giving too much for too long, without enough care coming back.

These aren’t quirks. These are red flags.

If two or more of these sound familiar, burnout isn’t coming—it’s already here.

"Caregiver burnout is a national health crisis hiding in plain sight. Over 60% of caregivers report symptoms. Many develop chronic illness. And an estimated 40% will die before the person they care for."
-AARP & Cleveland Clinic

You can’t care for someone else when you’re falling apart. Burnout isn’t just a caregiver issue it’s a survival issue.
